Privacy Policy for Sboogie

Last updated: 21 August 2026

Sboogie is a card game (President/Scum, with bluffing). This policy explains what information it handles and why. The short version: Sboogie has no server, no account system, and no analytics. Almost everything it stores stays on your device.

Information stored on your device

Sboogie saves the following locally, using Apple's standard on-device storage (UserDefaults):

Your Supporter status is not saved on the device at all — it is read from your App Store purchase record each time the app starts.

None of this is transmitted to us, because we don't operate a server that the app talks to. We simply have no way to see it.

Syncing between your own devices

Three small values sync across your own iPhone and iPad using Apple's iCloud Key-Value Storage, tied to your Apple ID: your Sboogie Gem balance, which cosmetic sets you have unlocked, and a list of purchase identifiers used to make sure a purchase is never credited twice. Nothing else is synced — no gameplay, no statistics, no name.

Your Supporter status is not stored in iCloud. It comes from your App Store purchase record, which is how "Restore purchases" works on a new device. That record is held by Apple, not by us.

Both are Apple's infrastructure, governed by Apple's own privacy policy, not ours. You can disable iCloud for any app in iOS Settings; Sboogie keeps working, and your gems stay on the device you earned them on.

Playing with people nearby

Local multiplayer uses Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework, which works entirely over your local Wi-Fi/Bluetooth — no internet connection and no server are involved. To let nearby devices find and join a table, your device's name is broadcast to other devices in range while hosting or browsing for a game, the same way it already is for AirDrop. If your device is named after you (e.g. "Alex's iPhone"), that name is visible to people near you during that time. Once a match starts, no gameplay data leaves the group of connected devices.

Game Center

If you choose to play online, Sboogie uses Apple Game Center for matchmaking. Online tables are capped at four players — a limit set by Apple's own matchmaking framework, not something we chose. Game Center is governed by Apple's own privacy policy and terms. We don't receive your Apple ID, email, or real name — Game Center identifies you to other matched players using an anonymized player ID that Apple provides. We don't use Game Center leaderboards or achievements.

Purchases

Sboogie offers a one-time Supporter unlock and optional Sboogie Gem packs, handled entirely by Apple's App Store / StoreKit. We never see your payment details, billing address, or card information — Apple's payment sheet handles all of that directly. We only receive confirmation that a purchase succeeded, so the app can unlock the corresponding content.

What we don't do

Children's privacy

Sboogie does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because the app has no server and no account system, there is no personal information for us to collect in the first place. Local multiplayer's device-name broadcast (above) is the one thing a parent may want to be aware of, and it's controllable via the device's own name in iOS Settings.

Data deletion

Almost everything Sboogie stores lives on your device. To remove it entirely, delete the app — this clears local storage. To also clear the iCloud-synced gem balance, turn off iCloud for Sboogie in iOS Settings before deleting, or contact us and we'll walk you through it (though again, we never actually hold this data ourselves — it lives in your iCloud account).

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the update.
